We built the Bass Pro Shops NITRO Big Bass Reel for one purpose: to catch the biggest, meanest fish in the lake. Your average reel can't take this kind of abuse; rest assured, NITRO is no average reel. It's built on a fortified 1-piece aluminum frame, engineered for raw strength with sidecovers to match. No flex, no weaknesses. The spool is machined from ultra high-strength aluminum; built deep, it'll handle as much line as you need--mono or braid, your call. Our Power Handle is solid forged aluminum, a full 90mm long--pure muscle.

"I bought 3 of these reels about 2 years ago , and they were good until the thumb bars wouldnt engage anymore and they growled like a bulldog.. I took all 3 back within a year to my local bps and had them replaced, and all 3 them of them are junk too.. the newer models may be better ,but I won't chance it........."

"The Bass Pro, Pfleuger, and Browing model reels are all made on the same manufacturing line. Therefore, there isnt really a "quality" difference between a Pfleuger and a Bass Pro reel of the same model, other than price...."

"This was a very smooth, good casting reel, but about a year and a half after i bought it it broke. The gears just locked up on me after i made a cast and i was unable to reel my lure in."
